Weather Realtime Privacy Policy

Weather Realtime: Radar & AQI for iOS

Privacy Policy — Weather Realtime (iOS)

Effective date: October 1, 2026 · Developer: Phong Nguyen Xuan ("we", "us") · Contact: storevn.feedback@gmail.com

This Privacy Policy describes how the Weather Realtime iOS app (the "App") collects, uses, and shares information. It is written to satisfy Apple App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1 and applicable privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA). By using the App you agree to this policy.

Summary: the App has no account system and never collects your name, email, or contacts. Location is used to show weather. The free version shows a banner ad supplied by Google AdMob; with your permission, that ad may be personalised using your device's advertising identifier. You can refuse that permission, or remove ads entirely with the optional Premium subscription. Every weather feature works without granting any permission.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Location (only with your permission)
  • Precise location (GPS, "While Using the App"): used to detect your current position and show local weather, forecasts, air quality, and radar. You may deny this and instead search for cities manually — all features still work.
  • Approximate location by IP address: if GPS is unavailable or denied while you request current-location weather, your IP address may be used to estimate an approximate (city-level) location.
  • Location coordinates are sent to our weather data providers only to fetch weather data for that place. They are not linked to your identity.
  • The home-screen widget refreshes on its own schedule and sends the coordinates of the saved place it displays, for the same purpose.
1.2 Search queries

City names you type in the search screen are sent to Apple Maps (MapKit) and, when you use "Advanced search", to our geocoding server and the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service, solely to find matching locations.

1.3 Advertising

The free version of the App shows a banner advertisement served by Google AdMob.

  • Advertising identifier (IDFA). Before any tracking occurs, iOS asks for your permission ("Allow Weather Realtime to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites?").
    • If you allow, Google may use your device's advertising identifier to personalise ads and measure their performance, including across other apps and websites.
    • If you deny, the App still shows ads, but they are not personalised using that identifier. Nothing else in the App changes.
    • You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Where GDPR applies, we show Google's consent form on first launch, and you can reopen it at any time from Settings → Ad privacy settings inside the App to change or withdraw your choice.
  • Google may also receive technical data such as device type, OS version, coarse location derived from IP address, and ad interactions. See https://business.safety.google/privacy/ and https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
  • Premium removes ads entirely (see §1.5).
1.4 Analytics, crash and performance data

Anonymous crash reports and performance diagnostics (device model, OS version, crash stack traces) are collected via Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs.

Firebase Analytics collects automatic usage events — app opens, screens viewed, session length, a Google-generated app instance identifier, approximate location derived from IP address, and the fact that a subscription purchase occurred. We use it only to understand how the App is used in aggregate. We do not upload the contents of your saved locations, settings, or photos, and none of this is linked to your real-world identity.

1.5 Premium subscription

Premium (ad-free experience and premium themes/icon sets) is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment; we never receive or store your payment details. The App only receives from Apple whether an active subscription exists, and stores that status on your device. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled; manage or cancel them in iOS Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions.

1.6 Photos (optional, on-device only)

If you choose your own photo as the app background, the App reads only the single photo you pick. The photo stays on your device and is never uploaded anywhere.

1.7 What we do NOT collect

We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, health data, messages, browsing history, or any account credentials. The App has no sign-in.

2. How We Use Information

Data Purpose Linked to you? Used for tracking?
Precise/approximate location Show weather, forecasts, air quality, radar; widget updates; optional weather notifications No No
Search queries Find cities you search for No No
Advertising identifier (IDFA) Personalised ads and ad measurement, only if you allow tracking No Yes
Ad interaction data Serve and measure ads No Yes
Usage events, app instance ID Analytics — understand feature use in aggregate No No

Crash & performance data Diagnose and fix crashes, improve stability No No
Remote configuration fetches Enable/disable features remotely (feature flags) No No

Saved locations, unit preferences, notification settings, custom layouts, and your chosen background photo are stored locally on your device (and in the app's private App Group container, so the widget can read them).

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services. Each processes data under its own privacy policy, and we require the protections described there:

4. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Location coordinates and search queries are processed transiently to serve your request and are retained in server logs for at most 90 days before deletion.
  • Crash and diagnostic data is retained by Firebase for the period defined in Google's policy (Crashlytics: up to 90 days). Analytics data is retained for the period set in our Firebase project, which Google caps at 14 months for user-level data.
  • Advertising data is retained by Google under its own policy; see the links in §3.
  • All locally stored data (saved locations, settings, custom background) is deleted when you delete the App. You can also reset it in-app at any time.
  • To request deletion of any server-side data, contact storevn.feedback@gmail.com — we respond within 30 days.

5. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your region, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

EEA / UK / Switzerland. Weather features rely on our legitimate interest in operating the App and on your consent for device location. Personalised advertising relies on consent, collected through Google's consent form; you may withdraw it at any time via Settings → Ad privacy settings.

California (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell personal information for money. However, using the advertising identifier for personalised advertising may qualify as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CPRA. You can opt out at any time by denying the tracking prompt, or later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or by subscribing to Premium, which removes advertising entirely. We do not knowingly share the personal information of consumers under 16.

Exercise any right by contacting storevn.feedback@gmail.com.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Advertising in the App is not targeted at children. If you believe a child provided data to us, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

Weather and geocoding traffic uses HTTPS/TLS where supported by the provider. We apply industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and limit server-side data to the minimum needed to operate the service.

8. International Transfers

Our servers and third-party providers may process data in countries other than yours (including the United States). Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App or on this page, with the "Effective date" above updated. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
